Research and Development of 3Ps English language Instructional Approach to Enhance Reading and Writing Ability in Basic Vocabulary For Grade 6 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the problems of English teaching activities by using the 3Ps teaching method to enhance the ability to read and write basic English words of sixth grade primary school students. 2) to develop English teaching activities with the 3Ps teaching method that promotes reading and writing basic English vocabulary of sixth grade primary school students,and 3) to compare the ability to read and write basic English words of sixth grade primary school students between the pre and post test scores using the 3Ps teaching method. The Samples in the research were the twenty-two students who are studying in sixth grade at primary school. They are in their second semester, Academic year 2016, Ban Sawatdee School, Nam Som, Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, UdonThani, Thailand. The instruments used in this study were (1) English reading comprehension test (2) the 3Ps learning plan (3) interview form (4) satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were: Mean Percentage and Standard Deviation

The findings indicated that:
The problems of English teaching activities by using the 3Ps teaching method, most students cannot read and write basic English vocabulary properly, students lack knowledge in reading English, and students have difficulty remembering terminology. Comparison of reading ability and basic English vocabulary of sixth grade primary school students. Between the pre and post test scores with the 3Ps, the post test scores were significantly higher than those before the study at the.05 level of statistic overall student satisfaction questionnaire, the mean score was 4.65 from the 5-point scale. The students were satisfied with the English language teaching activities.
